Killer Weekend

Aaron and I had such an awesome weekend and I thought I'd share it with you ;-) Friday started off with me cleaning a clients house then heading to Athens for a tattoo. I've been thinking about this one for a while and when Lindsay found David Hale on Facebook I knew he had to be the artist to do it. His approach it so different and he comes from a more artist background. I've included a picture so you can see how it's coming along. It was so incredibly painful that I punked out when it came time to do the color. He barely got started and I felt like I was going into shock and about to pass out. I go back in November to have it finished. That evening Aaron and I went to the Righteous Room and enjoyed a few drinks and had some great conversation. On Saturday we walked up to Grant Park for the Summer Shade Festival and took in the festivities. We ate at the WoodFired Pizza stand...Aaron's authentic pizza is way better. He's thinking of starting a mobile pizza business in Chattanooga so it was "priceless market research" he said ;-) On the way out of the festival I got a YumYum cupcake. Texture was killer but I was wanting a more rich flavor...I've gotten so picky with my gourmet treats!! Saturday afternoon we ran errands for a while then hit up the Little Azio's for pasta then took in a movie at Midtown Art Cinema. We say "Our Idiot Brother" with Paul Rudd. More of a chick flick than we thought but still enjoyable. After a solid nights sleep we got up Sunday and took a walk to the GSU campus. I was wanting Aaron to walk with me so I could scope it out and see if I felt safe about walking to my morning class twice a week. It was a great walk with the cool breeze and we hit up the Grant Park Farmers Market on the walk back. Aaron scored a fresh BLT with pimento cheese and I have some yummy peach fried pie. Both were very yummy. We are really excited about how cool the farmers market is. We will be going back next Sunday!! After we got back and showered we went to Phillips Arena to see Cirque du Soleil's Dralion. It was just okay. It was a smaller production. I wished that since it was Aaron's first show that it had been more dramatic and larger. There were of course still some cool parts. We came home and Aron fixed the hot water heater while I cleaned the house. Had to get a few chores done ;-) Sunday evening we went and tried Delia's Chicken Sausage on Moreland then went over to 97 Estoria and enjoyed the patio. The weather was amazing this weekend! SO that was our weekend!! It was killer right!?!

Holy Crap!

It's been well over two months since I have posted. My whole life has changed since my last post about Alice in Wonderland. I feel kind of like her right now, in that I'm trying to figure out what's going on and how to get back to my life and out of this rabbit hole.
I've seen very few movies these past months. Girl with the Dragon Tattoo(don't see it, read the book), The Runaways(okay but not great, don't see it unless your interested in Joan Jett), and one other one that I cannot even remember. I hope to return to the movies soon.
I've nothing to share book wise either. Hopefully that will change soon as The Girl who Kicked the Hornets Nest comes out next week.

I head to California in a few days to visit family and see two of my close friends marry each other. I'm excited to get away and see a part of Cali I've never laid eyes on. Then out to Arizona for a 10 day road trip. I hope the drive will clear my head and heal my heart some. Spending time with good friends is always good for the soul. So when I leave Wednesday I'll be out of pocket for a good two and half weeks. I cannot wait!

Today I am laying around in my pjs enjoying Saturday for what it was made for. Contemplating "I, Alex Cross" by James Patterson and a few movies on OnDemand.

Alice in Wonderland

Well...I cannot quite put my finger on it but something was a little off. The cinematography was amazing as well as the makeup and costumes. Helena Bonham Carter stole the show! She was great as the Red Queen. Anne Hathaway was first runner up for her performance. It was cool to see her in a different role. I think you should see it for yourself because I'm not really sure how I feel about it.

Shutter Island

I read the book a few months back and love love loved it! The movie was right on par with the book but I did enjoy the book more. The movie was made to seem creepy and a little scary at times but the book never felt that way. Clay liked the movie and has decided it's worth owning. So if you have not read the book you may enjoy the movie more. The twists and turns that the story takes are great!

The Wolfman

I had some high expectations of this movie because of the cast lineup. Unfortunately it fell flat even with all the big names. Slightly cheesy at times and just not as good as it could have been.

That Evening Sun

Hal Holbrook is awesome in this movie. He plays an aging farmer in Tennessee who's son has placed him in an old folks home. He decides to leave and head back to his farm after three months of feeling lonely and live out his life as he wishes. When he returns home he finds that his lawyer son has rented his place to the town drunk and his family...see the movie to find out how the story goes! It's worth seeing just to see Holbrook at his finest.
